First, pop the Homestyle Chips into a hot oven and bake until golden and crisp. Sprinkle with a little salt.
Meanwhile, make the BBQ hotdogs. Drain the hotdog sausages and sear them in a griddle pan, making sure that the centre is piping hot before serving.
Thinly slice the gherkins and place in the centre of the rolls. Put the hotdogs on top, heap with the caramelised onions (if using) and drizzle over the BBQ sauce. Serve with the chips.
Peel the onions and cut in half through the root.
Lay them centre side down in an ovenproof dish, season with salt and pepper and drizzle over the oil.
Put the dish in a hot oven (heated to 180°C) for 15 minutes. Turn them over and leave for a further 10 minutes, until the onions are golden and caramelised.
Drain on kitchen towel before serving.
No barbecue needed for these quick and tasty hot dogs try them with our Homestyle Chips for a super-fast supper.
