From a farming family which can be traced back to the 1800s, William and Richard Thomas have been growing potatoes for us since 2000 from their farm near Lands End in the far west of Cornwall. The local climate is the mildest in the UK, warmed by the Gulf Stream, which allows their crops to grow early in the year, producing some of the first new potatoes of the season. As well as potatoes they also have a herd of dairy cows and beef cattle which graze the grass and benefit the soil.
They employ traditional farming methods, with a rotation of different crops and sustainable practices to help manage wildlife habitats and protect the environment. Parts of the farm are also managed for nature conservation to encourage different species of wildlife.
