On their family farm in North-East Angus, Ian and Peter grow potatoes, winter wheat, spring and winter barley and daffodils, and rear cattle.
Their surrounding environment is particularly important to them and they recently re-planted a substantial amount of Hawthorn and Blackthorn hedging, as well as 300 native species. They also constructed a wildlife pond to try to encourage the nesting of birds, and are privileged to have an archaeological site on the farm; St. Martin’s Well is believed to contain healing water.
Aside from cultivating crops, the father and son team enjoy being involved in the local community. Ian is an elder at the local parish church and formerly a steward at The Royal Highland Show in Edinburgh. Peter is also a fully qualified vet – as well as a farmer.
