Messrs George McLaren is a family run farming business based in Perthshire, Scotland. The business grows five varieties of potatoes for us as well as Soft fruit, Blackcurrants, Cereals and Poultry. They strive to produce a quality product using the best available techniques and in a sustainable manner. The business is run by George and son Douglas, with the main farm Bankhead of Kinloch now being farmed by the 4th generation since it was purchased in 1938. They are committed to the care of wildlife and their habitats on the farm, and have planted trees and erected bird boxes with the support of The Norfolk Wildlife Trust Management Scheme. Through growing potatoes they learned about Operation Bumblebee. This is where a wild flower mix is sown to provide a habitat and support natural and wild bumblebees. In 2012 and 2013 they went on to help and support further research being carried out by Stirling University into wild flower mix and pollinators. Away from the activities of the farm, George is heavily involved in the community and is Chairman of East of Scotland Farmers.
