David Russell

The Russell family has been farming by Lundin Links for over 100 years. As well as potatoes, they also grow swedes, malting barley, milling oats and wheat for the local distillery. They are committed to going green on the farm, and are planning to invest in wind turbines to meet their own energy requirements and reduce their carbon footprint. They also encourage wildlife, beneficial insects and nesting birds on the farm through a mixture of cropping, watercourse buffer zones and bumblebee strips. They have several public walks through the farm to encourage the local community to enjoy the outdoors and see the farm at work. David enjoys motor biking, attending football matches and sampling the produce of his malting barley, although not necessarily in that order!
