Marabel, Rooster
Andrews farm is less than one mile from our Boston site. As well as growing potatoes, he also grows onions, brassicas and sugar beet, and combinable crops make up the rest of the arable acreage. Industrial oilseed rape is also grown as a break crop. Eight acres of the farm are managed on entry level of The Royal Stewardship Scheme. There is a wild bird mix drilled on shoot strips and some field margins. Pollen, nectar and bumblebee mixes have all been established. Recently Andrew has also been involved with The University of Surrey studying the life cycle assessment in potato production, majoring in emissions and carbon usage. As a former Chairman and President of The Young Farmers, he still takes a special interest in the movement and is involved in several fundraising committees.
