The warmer weather is upon us and our beloved British tradition of picnicking springs to mind. We just have to go about it differently this year! So at Albert Bartlett we want to give you fun ways to host a picnic at home - bringing the outdoors in, and serving up deliciously light & seasonal recipe ideas.
So whether it's a romantic picnic for two, or a fun-filled way to entertain the kids over lunch, look out your picnic blanket, pick out your finest summer outfit and do the Albert Bartlett picnic - from the comfort of your front room!
Our Jersey Royals are now in season and are the perfect accompaniment to a picnic salad.
Pick the brightest spot in the house and lay out your favourite picnic blanket on the floor, with scatter cushions for added comfort. A picnic basket and camping chairs, if you have them, will really help recreate the moment. Get the kids briefed on decorations - paper, pens, string (and enthusiasm in equal measure) is all they'll need for homemade bunting!
Think about fun ways of serving up your picnic dishes. We love mason jars for holding salads, sides and dressings. How about a platter of meats and cheeses, served on a rustic chopping board, for everyone to pick from? Or crudité veggies like celery, carrot sticks and cucumber, served with some chilled dips? And don’t forget paper towels for the sticky fingers!
With British summer fruits coming into season, why not quench your thirst with a fresh fruit punch or smoothie? Or, if it's adults-only time, a delicious strawberry daiquiri using this recipe?
